I’ve Been Tagged! 6 Random Things About Me

December 3rd, 2008 by Jack Rugile - 15 Comments - Posted in Miscellaneous

Jack and JamesApparently I was tagged in an alleged game of tag that I may or may not have known that I was participating in! Jeremy from Insight Writer just revealed 6 random things about himself and I am going to do the same. He tagged me and well… if I claim to be too old for a game of tag, then that means that I have grown up and I REFUSE to believe that.

Here are 6 random things about me:

  1. I recently knocked the lower half of my top two front teeth out with the handle bars on my bike. I was walking it up the stairs to my porch, accidentally dropped it, then the shocks caused the bike to bounce back up and hit me in the face. In a flash, my lip was busted, my teeth were gone, and I experienced one of my biggest fears… and it wasn’t so bad. Told people I got in an insane fight.
  2. I have a MySpace music profile, mainly metal.
  3. I love watching commentaries of Starcraft tournaments played by progamers in South Korea.
  4. I can bend my left pinky back and make it touch the top of my hand.
  5. Coffee has stimulated some of my best ideas, in all aspects of life.
  6. My favorite book is Ishmael, by Daniel Quinn

50 Ways to Help the Planet

December 2nd, 2008 by Jack Rugile - 1 Comment - Posted in Environment

50 Ways to Help the PlanetMy girlfriend, Kristen, sent me this link the other day and I loved it. It is a site called 50 Ways to Help the Planet that was made by Wire & Twine. They have compiled 50 tips that are all pretty easy to implement into your life immediately.

“Going green” doesn’t have to be a daunting task that means sweeping life changes. Simple things can make a difference.”

The above quote from their site sums it up well. Many people adopt “going green” and environmental awareness with an all or none attitude. If they can’t live their life completely in balance with nature, then they don’t do anything at all. That is not a good way to look at it. Every little bit can help, even if it is just a few small things here and there.

On Being Frugal: The Joy of PB&J

November 27th, 2008 by Jack Rugile - 5 Comments - Posted in Frugality, Guest Posts

PB and JThis post was written by Jeremy from Insight Writer. Be sure to check out his blog!

Ah! Peanut Butter and Jelly. Some people like it. Some people don’t. Others absolutely positively love it. It is the same way with frugality. Some love it, some hate it.

Being frugal has good and bad connotations. Some people see it as being miserly, some see it as being wise. Most don’t think about it at all. I would say that if you want to live a simple life then it is something to think about, and implement in your daily life.

Track and Share Your Life Goals at 43Things.com

November 10th, 2008 by Jack Rugile - 13 Comments - Posted in Inspiration

43Things LogoJust came across this site, 43Things.com, that helps you track and share your life goals. It has been around for awhile (I live under a rock, get me out from under this rock!) and reached 1,000,000 registered users in April of 2007.

The concept and interface are very simple. Let me give you a run down of some of the site features.

  • Easy to register – You just fill out a very simple form and you are on your way. Then add a profile picture, a small bio, and start adding to your life goal list.
  • List and track your life goals – It gives you the option to list up to 43 things on your goal list. The coolest part is that it tells you how many other people have that exact same goal!
  • Share your goals with people – Send your friends and family a link to your profile, post your list to your blog, or share them with other users on the site.
  • Meet people with the same goals – After you add your goal to your list, you can click on it and be taken to a page dedicated to that particular goal. There you can find other people with the same goals, write entries about how your goal is coming along, read entries from other people about their progress, and receive advice on how to achieve your goals from users who have already accomplished them.
  • Receive inspiration from other users – You can “cheer” on other users and receive “cheers” on your goals. They also have a giant goal cloud that is similar to a tag cloud. It rotates through different goals on peoples’ lists, giving a bigger font to the really popular goals. There is a user to user message system as well.
