November 15th, 2008 by Jack Rugile - 10 Comments - Posted in Simple Challenge

JournalWelcome to this week’s Simple Challenge! To check out other simple challenges, please visit the Simple Challenge category.

Our brains can only hold so many memories and pieces of information at one time. It is easy to forget and lose track of our life goals, creative ideas, important tasks, dreams, imagination and passions. That is why I challenge you to start a journal or a blog to start getting your heart and mind in order!

I am sure that many of you have probably already started journals or blogs in your life. If that is the case, then I challenge you to put more effort into them. Write more. Write about more topics. Make it a habit and part of your routine. Read the full post…

Track and Share Your Life Goals at 43Things.com

November 10th, 2008 by Jack Rugile - 11 Comments - Posted in Inspiration

43Things LogoJust came across this site, 43Things.com, that helps you track and share your life goals. It has been around for awhile (I live under a rock, get me out from under this rock!) and reached 1,000,000 registered users in April of 2007.

The concept and interface are very simple. Let me give you a run down of some of the site features.

  • Easy to register - You just fill out a very simple form and you are on your way. Then add a profile picture, a small bio, and start adding to your life goal list.
  • List and track your life goals - It gives you the option to list up to 43 things on your goal list. The coolest part is that it tells you how many other people have that exact same goal!
  • Share your goals with people - Send your friends and family a link to your profile, post your list to your blog, or share them with other users on the site.
  • Meet people with the same goals - After you add your goal to your list, you can click on it and be taken to a page dedicated to that particular goal. There you can find other people with the same goals, write entries about how your goal is coming along, read entries from other people about their progress, and receive advice on how to achieve your goals from users who have already accomplished them.
  • Receive inspiration from other users - You can “cheer” on other users and receive “cheers” on your goals. They also have a giant goal cloud that is similar to a tag cloud. It rotates through different goals on peoples’ lists, giving a bigger font to the really popular goals. There is a user to user message system as well.

Small and Simple Houses From Tumbleweed

November 7th, 2008 by Jack Rugile - 8 Comments - Posted in Simple Living

I got an email from my dad the other day with a link to the Tumbleweed Tiny House Company. We are both huge fans of simplicity and small housing. I opened the site and was blown away by how small, simple, and appealing their houses are.

I have included some photos from their site of my favorite ones (the smallest ones, of course) below. Check out their website for more information and more photos of their houses.

Tumbleweed houses range from 65 to 837 square feet. The smaller ones come on wheels and don’t require a building permit! How cool is that? Park your simple and cozy home anywhere across the country.

Thank You Simple Sapien Readers!

November 6th, 2008 by Jack Rugile - 11 Comments - Posted in Miscellaneous, News

Simple Sapien AdI started this blog on August 29th, my 21st birthday. It began as a small idea but has since grown into something much bigger. I currently have 36 posts up and it is now a huge part of my life. None of this would have been possible without readers like you.

I just wanted to take a few minutes and thank you all for your support and your inspiring conversation. It so refreshing to know that there are so many out there who value a simple life. Living simple is not always easy, but it is always worth it. It takes a lot of discipline, but the rewards justify it completely.

I encourage you all to share your views about simple living. Whether it be in your own blog (which I highly recommend!), in a guest post on your favorite blog, in a comment on a post, in an e-mail, in a conversation, or even just to yourself in a journal. Simplifying your life is much easier when those around you are doing it too!

Michael JordanThis post was written by Lance at The Jungle of Life. Be sure to check out his blog for more great posts!

“I’ve always believed that if you put in the work, the results will come. I don’t do things half-heartedly. Because I know if I do, then I can expect half-hearted results.” - Michael Jordan

Effort: A conscious exertion of power, a serious attempt.
