The television really affected my attitude throughout my high school years; I was very somber without watching, like I needed a means of escaping bitter reality. I even ignored my artwork and music abilities. After some time, it felt as if a toxin were being injected into my brain from the constant advertisements and flashing pictures (conditioning).
All that is ancient history and turning the tube on doesn't even come to mind. My brother and friends still criticize me for not keeping up with their shows (Jersey Shore, Family Guy, etc.). I only hope the whole world doesn't devolve to this. Life is the remedy and this article was a good refresher. Thank you. I like everyone's input on this.

I got rid of my television and OMG, life is nice. I replaced alot of the energy with personal and professional activites. I became a youth life coach, much better than a couch potato.

I think for myself and yeah, TV is just one way communication.

Here is England, not only do we pay for the TV, the cable and electricity, we also pay for TV licence (Don't ask!)

You should see some people, zombies with no life, glued to the idiot box. Love it!

I first noticed the negativity of Television when I was experimenting with Polyphasic Sleep. I would literally feel ill watching it, I would notice that half the time I was not even watching it (just sitting there staring), I would feel drained just by being the same room, and I noticed I would go into these zombie states like hypnosis. There is much fear relate things within the frequency of TV. I do not own a TV.

Thank you for writing this article, it helps others be more aware. :)

Agreed. Last time we regularly watched TV was 2002 -- and even then, just one night a week. (on Thursdays, to watch Friends and ER)

It's been so out of my system that nowadays I don't "get" the lifestyle with TV at all.

But every time I see it on in somebody else's house, I don't see any reasons to bring it back in. It makes me glad that it's out of my system.

We do rent DVDs to watch TV shows, however. We're watching Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and A Little House on the Prairie. Yes, Netflix rocks!
