I’ve Been Tagged! 6 Random Things About Me

December 3rd, 2008 by Jack Rugile - 10 Comments - Posted in Miscellaneous

Jack and JamesApparently I was tagged in an alleged game of tag that I may or may not have known that I was participating in! Jeremy from Insight Writer just revealed 6 random things about himself and I am going to do the same. He tagged me and well… if I claim to be too old for a game of tag, then that means that I have grown up and I REFUSE to believe that.

Here are 6 random things about me:

  1. I recently knocked the lower half of my top two front teeth out with the handle bars on my bike. I was walking it up the stairs to my porch, accidentally dropped it, then the shocks caused the bike to bounce back up and hit me in the face. In a flash, my lip was busted, my teeth were gone, and I experienced one of my biggest fears… and it wasn’t so bad. Told people I got in an insane fight.
  2. I have a MySpace music profile, mainly metal.
  3. I love watching commentaries of Starcraft tournaments played by progamers in South Korea.
  4. I can bend my left pinky back and make it touch the top of my hand.
  5. Coffee has stimulated some of my best ideas, in all aspects of life.
  6. My favorite book is Ishmael, by Daniel Quinn

Thank You Simple Sapien Readers!

November 6th, 2008 by Jack Rugile - 11 Comments - Posted in Miscellaneous, News

Simple Sapien AdI started this blog on August 29th, my 21st birthday. It began as a small idea but has since grown into something much bigger. I currently have 36 posts up and it is now a huge part of my life. None of this would have been possible without readers like you.

I just wanted to take a few minutes and thank you all for your support and your inspiring conversation. It so refreshing to know that there are so many out there who value a simple life. Living simple is not always easy, but it is always worth it. It takes a lot of discipline, but the rewards justify it completely.

I encourage you all to share your views about simple living. Whether it be in your own blog (which I highly recommend!), in a guest post on your favorite blog, in a comment on a post, in an e-mail, in a conversation, or even just to yourself in a journal. Simplifying your life is much easier when those around you are doing it too!

Interview With Sara From On Simplicity

October 24th, 2008 by Jack Rugile - 7 Comments - Posted in Miscellaneous, Simple Living

Sara from On SimplicityThis is an interview with Sara from On Simplicity. She is, in my opinion, one of the best simplicity bloggers on the scene today. I highly encourage you all to check out her blog after reading the interview. Her writing is inspiring, honest, insightful and entertaining. Enjoy!

For starters, tell us a little bit about yourself. What is the life of Sara like?

I try to keep it simple, focusing on hobbies I enjoy and people I care about. I have a full-time job that puts me out in the community, but outside of that, I love to be home with my husband and dog. I really do take pleasure in simple things, so that means that my life is pretty quiet. To be honest, blogging is what has made my life complicated and crazy, but I wouldn’t give it up.

11 Signs That You Should Quit Your Job

October 9th, 2008 by Jack Rugile - 12 Comments - Posted in Miscellaneous, Personal Growth

SignsI gave my two week notice today at my job. I could not be happier! It is an incredible burden lifted off of me. Before, there was no end in sight. But now, there is a set day where I know that I will never ever have to come back to my job, ever again… ever. EVER!

Hopefully all of you don’t hate your job as much as I hated mine. I would absolutely dread going to work and just thinking about it would ruin my days off. When my shift would end, I would feel this enormous sense of freedom and would race home to get away from my job.

Is your job working out for you? Do you feel some of the same feelings I am feeling? If you love your job, good for you! Hold on to it, cherish it, and excel at it. If not, go through this list and see if any of the items match up to your current situation. No, not all of these reasons alone are enough to quit your job, but a combination of them can be reason enough to leave. It will be up to you to decide which ones you can live with and which ones you can’t. I know that there is no perfect job out there and that they all can be hard at times. I hope this is a valuable resource! Read the full post…

Death By Simplification

September 22nd, 2008 by Jack Rugile - 4 Comments - Posted in Miscellaneous

Death Chalk OutlineA few weeks ago I wrote a post about what the definition of simple is. Simplicity is the opposite of complexity. Things that are complex have many complicated parts and things that are simple have a few basic parts… or no parts at all.

It got me to thinking, what is the maximum simplicity a person can reach? In our quest for simple living, where do we draw the line? Is it possible to simplify yourself to death? Wouldn’t that be the ultimate simplicity? Non-existence!

Death by simplification. It sounds like some strange method of torture. Think of all the things you would not have to worry about: Read the full post…
