RSS stand for “Really Simple Syndication”. Look at that, an internet technology that has the word “simple” in it. You should subscribe to my RSS feed for that reason alone! It is basically a site that is dedicated to a particular site’s content. Your site’s content. This content can then be viewed on an RSS page or in an RSS reader. Let me explain what that is.

Do you have a huge list of bookmarks that you check everyday to see if they updated their site or posted something new? It can get pretty time consuming and tedious, right? RSS readers get rid of that problem! Think of RSS readers as super charged bookmarks. They allow you to see a list of all your favorite sites and whether or not they posted new content all in one simple page! You can see at a glance whether a certain website has new content or not. I can’t tell you how much time this has saved me.

In addition to organizing your bookmarks and letting you know whether they have published new content, you can also read that content from within the RSS reader, thus saving you time by not having to actually go to the separate website that is hosting the content. You have the option to visit the site too, of course.

Here are some popular RSS readers:

I personally use Google Reader and love it!

It is up to you, either method works better than an old fashioned bookmark. Give it a try!
